The Ambassador Hotel was a Mid-Wilshire fixture from its opening in 1921 until it was demolished in 2005 to make way for a public school complex. The storied hotel was the site of the legendary Cocoanut Grove nightclub, the location for numerous movies, and played host to the 2nd and 12th Academy Awards. Robert Kennedy was assassinated in the hotel in 1968 shortly after his California Primary victory speech.
